Free math worksheets to help Grade 6 students learn how to convert fractions with denominator of 10, 100, or 1000 to decimals.

How to convert fractions with denominator of 10, 100, or 1000 to decimals?

When converting fractions to decimals, we need to divide the numerator by the denominator. However, we can use a shortcut when the denominators 10, 100, or 1000.

  1. For a fraction with a denominator of 10, move the decimal point one place to the right.
    Example: 3/10 = 0.3
  2. For a fraction with a denominator of 100, move the decimal point two places to the right.
    Example: 25/100 = 0.25
  3. For a fraction with a denominator of 1000, move the decimal point three places to the right.
    Example: 16/1000 = 0.016

In general, we move the decimal point of the numerator the same number of places to the right as the number of zeros in the denominator.
